Im looking to purchase a skylake CPU. Im not sure weather to purchase an intel core i5 6600k or an i7 7600k . I just want the system for bluray movie playback and ripping and a bit of gaming and as a workstaion like tyoing letters etc. Im tepted to go along i7 for the extra cache and extra GHz but is it really worth spending more on an I7 Cpu?

The only demanding things on that list are the ripping and gaming depending on title. Without them you could probably get by with a Pentium G4560 with integrated graphics and be perfectly happy. If you do intend to do a lot of transcoding then more cores and threads will dramatically speed things up. At that point though, any Ryzen CPU would be a better value, though it would require dedicated graphics. The i7 7700k would only make sense if gaming is the primary focus and you're also investing in a gtx 1070 or higher GPU.
