My friend wants to upgrade his computer with maybe parts his work maybe and parts from online retailers. The only few parts he might be able to get are the CPU, motherboard, and maybe graphics card. If he cant get any of this from his work he would need to have these parted out slowly so he can afford it over a couple of months. He has of right now a i7 860, Gskill 8gb ram, Powercolor 5850, and Antec Earthwatts 650w power supply. He only uses the computer for pc gaming the highest graphical game he wants to play smooth is Player Unknown Battlegrounds maybe along with Crackdown 3 when it comes out. I am going to say that worse possibility what would be the setup he should get if he has to buy everything from an online retailer maybe from a Micro-center if its a big savings in store?

um yes......? youre rambling. question point?

if he reused his hard drive and power supply and gpu for now. buy a new case and mb//cpu and ram. look at micro center locked i5 and b270 mb or the i3 and b270 mb. look at stock ddr4 2400 8g ram. on amd side he csn look at the new zen cpu and mb combos. the hard part if he going slowly is going from hard drive to an ssd. he have to use 3 party tools to clone his data over. or buy the ssd and windows 10 at the same time.

He doesn't need a new case or hard drive yet I did give him the computer with a ssd and 1 tb hard drive in it at the time. I should add that the power supply is most likely 7 years old. I couldn't find the receipt at the time to verify this but I have looked when I bought all my other parts and it is around that time. What would you recommend on the power supply and graphics card?
