Question about changing cases for airflow

I just bought a Dell XPS 8910 a few weeks ago.

GPU - Nvidia GeForce 1070 SC, EVGA Supernova 850 power supply.
32 GB ddr4 ram

At idle I'm around 40-45 c. During gaming I'm anywhere between 64-79. I've looked into changing the CPU fan but with the power supply folding over right on the CPU I'm not sure what aftermarket choices I have. Is it possible to use all the components and move it to a better case where the power supply didn't sit on the CPU. I was looking at this case for better airflow. Also then adding a better CPU fan like the Cooler Master Hyper Evo 212. Any ideas of this is plausible?

Dell PC's have terrible airflow. The plastic bits and pieces they install are actually rather good at directing airflow where it needs to go, but the overall airflow capacity of the case is terrible. Frag Maniac is correct that if you get a new case and swap the parts over, it will help with your issues.

Regarding the inane drivel of that dingbat going on and on about power...I can't believe that answer is marked as the suggested answer. What the heck.
Honestly, why do people still bother with Dell XPS PCs?

That case looks to be horrible for air space/flow. The problem trying to answer your question though, is they don't give any info on what type of PSU it has. It's hard to say whether it's totally proprietary, or is standard ATX form factor and mounting.

I'd say it's still worth it to change cases though, even if you have to buy another PSU, even more so if you don't.

...Update, just found a thread on Dell Support Forum where one guy whom owns this PC says the stock PSU is standard ATX. If so, any ATX case would work.

The psu case in the 8910 is standard atx.

Pay no attention to the idiot that answered claiming it's not ATX, using power scenarios. ATX is not a power standard, it's a form factor that refers to physical mounting dimensions.

The (ATX) specification defines the key mechanical dimensions, mounting point, I/O panel, power and connector interfaces between a computer case, a motherboard and a power supply.

So go ahead and get a better case and CPU cooler.

I guess whoever wrote the PSU deleted his post because I cant see it anywhere lol. I went ahead and bought a case and CPU cooler. I also said in my above post that I already upgraded the power supply so not sure why he brought that up. Oh well.

Yeah im not quite sure why the psu was brought up since im my original post I said I already upgraded the power supply. I thank you for the information. I already bought a case and aftermarket cooler.

At the very least it benefits anyone else dumb enough to get an XPS wanting to reuse the stock one in a different case. Point being, I could have been slightly more attentive at reading your OP, but you could have been MILES more attentive at buying a PC.

I can't feel guilty for not pouring over every inch of a post about buying a Dell XPS quite frankly. It's just barely one notch above wasting money on an Alienware. For the money already wasted on this build, you could have assembled a MUCH better one piecemeal.

I ended up just returning the XPS and built my own pc. I used the NZXT S340 Elite case, Asus Maximus IX Hero board, I7 7700k 7gen cpu. Alot happier with this set up lol. Its already set up and running at a cool 28c idle and 45 full load. Thank you all for your replies.

LOL I completely agree and thats what I did. Also I didnt know you were the one who was talking about the powersupply so sorry your feeling got hurt with my response.

No problem, at least you did the right thing in the end and built your own. More people should not be afraid to do that.

Yeah I was nervous about it but like you said it wasn't worth the cost. I spent a few 100 more but really worth it. And not as hard as expected.
