How long will my laptop CPU last?

I'm planning on getting an eGPU for my laptop (Asus GL551JW). My CPU is i7 4720HQ. I'm getting something like a RX 570, RX 580, GTX 1070 or even GTX 1080. So I would need a well performing CPU. I normally get 75 to 80 degrees on my CPU with a cooling pad. Lets say I don't overclock it and leave it at its stock 2.60Ghz. How many years will it last then? Assuming I use a laptop cooler all the time, buy some good thermal paste and dust my laptop often. Or lets say I overclock it often ( its max is 3.50Ghz ) what will be a safe overclock and how long will it last?

It is actually quite hard to make a CPU go bad.
Run it at absolute max temp for a few months, maybe.
It should last many years. Something else will wear out first.

On a different note, please let us know how this eGPU thing works out for you.
Many people here ask about it, but no one ever seems to return and say it works great, or is not worth the hassle.

Here is my experience: thunderbolt docks: work pretty well but are pricey and going higher than mid range cards is not recommended as they will be bottlenecked by the connection.

The mpcie docks can be found really cheap but it depends a lot on the connector speed of the laptop. You lose your wifi card and you have a wire sticking out fo your laptop that you can't remove easily and you lose the main purpose of a laptop which is portability.

Also most if not all of the cheaper ones need a desktop psu which makes a giant cable mess and such. Express card laptop docks are fine but have the same problems as thunderbolt (way cheaper tho)

This research was done over the course of 2015-2016 as a independent school assignment with a core i7 3620m cpu and 6700hq cpu. Cards used:
gtx 650
hd 5870
hd 7870
gtx 760
gtx 970
hd 7970
r290x
9800 gtx plus
hd 6450

I know a guy who uses a 1070 eGPU setup ( he has the same laptop as me ) and he says everything works fine. The bottleneck isn't that bad, an eGPU setup (with an external monitor) with 1070 is 22% more slower than the desktop version.
I'm gonna get my GPU, PCIe to PCIe mini adapter, PSU and Monitor on black friday. So I can tell you guys if it works well at the end of this year.
By the way what overclock on my CPU would you recommend?
