Hello guys,

I was searching the forums for my issue with the Gigabyte HD 7750 OC edition, but was unlucky, so I decided to post it here. I have two Desktops, one of them being a Dell Optiplex 780 with an Intel Q8400, 4GB DDR3, and 1TB HDD, another custom build PC with an Asus P5QL Pro, also a Q8400, 4GB DDR2, 160GB HDD. I bought a used Gigabyte HD 7750 OC Edition. Now according to the PSU calculators, Dell's 305W PSU would be enough and if not there's the custom with the 500W PSU. When I installed the Card it wouldn't boot right away, first short attempt, then another one a bit longer, and at the third boot all the fans spinning but the Display isn't getting any signal. At first I thought since it's a OC edition of the 7750, and a 400W PSU is suggested, the Optiplex 780 doesn't have enough juice. I installed it onto the Asus P5QL Pro, with a 500W PSU, but the same thing happen here, with additional beeping, one long and 3 short. I googled a bit, thinking it's PCI-E 2.0 - 3.0 compatibility issues, but now I start to think that the Card is flawed. I planning to check the card at a custom service, but at first I wanted to check here.

BIOS is updated, another GT 240 and 4350 work just fine on both PC's, Display is working as well, also I tried to wire the display with the integrated video card on my mobo, but same thing happens here - 3 attempts to boot, and no display, screen is black but the fans are running. I also contacted the seller, and he assured me that the Card is working, that he used it last week, and the problem is in compatibility with the PCI slots?

Thank you in advance.

On some of the 7xxx series cards and up I've noticed if your system uses ddr2 which meaans the older lga 775 chip set it may have compatibly issues with the bios. But yeah I would have someone plug it into a newer system to see if it works on theirs. If not just return it hopefully.

The Dell Optiplex 780 has 4GB DDR3 1333 Mhz. On my research about PCI-E 1.1 - 3.0 compatibility I read about 5-10% slower speed due to bandwith, but didn't encounter any compatibility issues where the card didn't want to boot.

thank you for the reply

I probably will refund the card, and buy for the same price a R7 250 from Sapphire. It doesn't need additional power via 6 pin right? and the architecture should be newer too, like dx12. This one I test first though, before buying :)
