First time pc builder. Is this what I need or can I downgrade parts to save money?

Hello everyone. I tried to post this yesterday but don't think it stuck.

I got this build from the "best gaming pc builds" section so no doubt it's all compatible and should work fine but my question is if I really need this much power or is it possible to save money in some areas and still play all the latest titles at max settings on a 1440p monitor.

- ASUS MG279Q 27" Widescreen LED Backlit IPS Gaming Monitor

- EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Founders Edition

- ASUS Republic of Gamers Maximus IX Hero Z270 LGA 1151 ATX Motherboard

- Intel Core i7-7700K 4.2 GHz Quad-Core LGA 1151

- EVGA SuperNOVA 850 G3 850W 80 Plus Gold Modular Power Supply

- Corsair Hydro Series H100i v2 Liquid CPU Cooler

- Corsair 16GB Vengeance LPX DDR4 3200 MHz UDIMM Memory Kit (2 x 8GB)

- Cooler Master MasterCase Pro 5 Mid-Tower Case

- Samsung 512GB 960 PRO M.2 Internal SSD

Thanks guys for your help. I'm looking to buy within next couple weeks.

this is a good build but you can go with ryzen and get it for cheaper

But i need answers to these questions first

1.What is your budget or a rough estimate of a budget?
2.What country do you live in?
3.Do you need peripherals, keyboard, mouse etc.?
4.Will you be overclocking?
5.Do looks matter, for example tempered glass or rgb or both?
6.What things do you plan on doing with this system?

the cpu and gpu r what u need to fully utilize ur monitor's potential. a GTX 1080 will also do, but u might have to replace ur 1080 much sooner than the 1080ti in that case. i would suggest u stick with the 1080ti.

now regarding ur PSU, a quality 650W should do fine for ur system. since u already chose a g3, go for the 650W model of it.

u can go for a slightly better performing or equally good cooler like the cryorig r1 for a bit less.

u really dont need a NVMe SSD. a normal Crucial MX300 500gb SSD will also improve ur loading time. but if u can afford it, its a good choice.

that mobo is a great one. albeit a costly. a MSI gaming pro carbon or fatality K6 r other great choices for a bit less. even the strix 270 e is a good choice.

and dont go for the founders edition. try a gigabyte aorus 1080ti. or even the zotac amp edition.

Thanks so much responding.

Trying to keep my budget as close to $2500 as possible with the monitor. My hope is I can have a pc that will do what I want for much less but not sure that's possible

I live in the United States

I do not need keyboard mouse or any peripherals

Not sure about overclocking. I have zero experience with it

Yes looks matter. I aiming for smooth gameplay and great visuals

As for what I'm doing with pc, 90% for gaming. The rest of the time maybe simple photo editing but focus is certainly on gaming.

And VR is a need as well

Thank you again

No a lot of questions at all. I greatly appreciate the help.

When you said do looks matter I thought you meant graphics.

When it comes to the case then no. I'm not all that concerned with how the actual pc looks at the end of the day. More about what's inside

As you can see it hasnt got a graphics card in it . thats beacause Amd is coming out with Vega soon and if you pair vega and a freesync monitor it should be quite a bit cheaper than a nvidia card paired with freesync and also i didnt pick out a liquid cooler beacuse you arent going to be overclocking that hard and its way cheaper. If you want toverclock your cpu, just search up "Ryzen overclocking" on youtube or google, but beware dont overclock to hard
