Best to buy a matched pair together to guarantee compatibility with each other let alone the dual channel aspect of it.

There's a good chance even in a few weeks you won't be able to find a matching one if you buy a single stick now.

With some vendors you can even save money buying a matched pair compared to buying two sticks separately, several weeks or months apart.
May work or may not work at all - there is reason RAM is sold as 2 or 4 stick kits: they are tested to work together. If you buy 1 stick now, and 1 stick later, even if it will be exactly same product, no one can guarantee you they will work together at all. Although there's usually quite good chance they will work, you must be prepared for the possible trouble.
