Can Asus H170M-E D3 replace my old Asus F2A85-m motherboard. Do they have the same kind of connectors and whatnot? I know they are the same size and all, but I'm just wondering about what all I need to take into consideration when upgrading the motherboard. Thanks

Overall, there are some differences:
- H170 has only 4 SATA ports for drives and does not have eSATA port (so it limits number of drives)
- one less internal USB 2 header (so less front USB 2 ports)
The biggest difference is H170 has 8-pin EPS header, while your old board used only 4-pin ATX, so I don't know if your PSU has correct plug (but it should work with only 4-pin plug anyway).

However, I don't advise using DDR3 ram with SkyLake CPUs. Strictly speaking, they don't even support this kind of ram, and while your board may be able to reduce voltage of ram to the levels acceptable by SkyLake, it may still give you a lot of trouble. Same with KabyLake CPUs.

Sorry I should have been more clear, I'm also buying a new processor in the process. I'm just thinking about the connections to the PSU and hard drives etc. Thanks for answering
