Hello,

I've been using this old Nvidia GT240 for a few years now and it always worked just fine.
Today I turned my computer on and noticed there was no video input as my monitor went on DVI-D sleep mode. I opened up my computer to check if everything was working properly when I noticed the GPU Fan had stopped. I rebooted my computer to check if it would turn on again but it didn't. The fan started spinning at low speed for 2 seconds then stopped. I turned off the computer and properly removed the Video card, cleaned it up and checked the PCI-Express. Everything seemed normal. I tried again and still, the same result. I then tried using a VGA cable to use onboard video to check the BIOS, again, everything was just fine, primary video adapter was set do PCI-Express and all. I booted up Windows 10 to check all devices and saw that my GPU was not detected, however, the Nvidia Virtual Audio Device was on. Also The heatsink seems to be very hot even though the card seems to be turned off.

I have this computer for about 5 years now but all the hardware is older and was already used when I bought it.

CPU: AMD Athlon II X3 440 3.0Ghz
PSU DSE-1845 total Output 450w (Cheap Brand...)
GPU: Nvidia GT240
RAM: 4Gb Single Channel
MOBO: Phitronics N68c-m Am2 Am2+ Am3 Phenom
BIOS: American MegaTrends L1.01 (2010)

Solution
It could be the psu overall not providing the right current to the gpu or the cheap psu may have burned your graphic card chip altogether. Thats why i want you to check the card on friends pc or relative pc to see if its working. If its not working your graphic card is burned and you may need to look for a replacement and if it is working i very strongly advice in buying a atleast bronze rated corsair or seasonic psu.

Hello there, how are you? Hope you are having a great day? How long has it been since you bought that power supply? I think that power supply is not providing a stable current to graphic card. Can you try your card in your friend or relative pc to check if it works?

I'm fine, thanks for asking although I'm still struggling with the Onboard video. It's been almost a year since I have this PSU and this is the first time this has happened to me. I'll see if I can try this on another computer but it might take some time for me to give feedback since I'm a bit busy lately.

Hopefully it's just the PSU, if it's the Motherboard or even the GPU itself then I might be in trouble...
