Cant get 4k monitor to 60hz

I have a monitor tht advertises 4k 60hz, i checked and it has dp 1.2, i have a graphics card tht should be able to run these settings ive seen ppl with the ssme card run it, and my display cable is 1.2, so i have no idea why windows wont support 4k 60hz, when i go to my graphics card software i have an option to create custom settings and when i go any higher then 1440p and try 60 hz it says display doesnt support it, ive also gone and checked if all my drivers are up to date so if anyone has any more ideas pls help

We need the model numbers for your monitor and GPU.
as long as your cable is a straight DP to DP cable it should work without issue unless the monitor ad lied.
if you're using any adapters it won't work.

Im not using any adapters
Model number for gpu is 11222-06-20G
I dont have the model number for my monitor, but its the Monoprice 28in UHD select series Matte 4k 60hz 5 ms Monitor, pixel perfect Display

Where did you get your DP cable? are you sure it's 1.2?

If you go into Windows Display Properties/resolution settings, is 4k not there?
If you go to Display Adapter Properties (under Device Manager, and select your GPU), click the monitor tab there should be a screen refresh rate option there.
