Hi everyone

I brought 2 rx 480s back in december (4 months ago) and i have have no problems up till now. During start up it both work but as soon as i get to log in one of them (the one in the second slot) makes a gush of wind sound and then the fan switches off. Shortly after logging in the whole PC freezes . The only way i could fix it was to remove one, boot it up with 1 then install the second one again in and kapeesh it works again. Also i found a way to make it start up again after the gush sound. It was to go to the watt man settings then all of a sudden it worked again. But then if i plug in my second moniter the second moniter screen is just blank. I know that the cards are fine because i have switched there position in the PCI slts and then the one that died works again. So i was wondering what the cause of the gush of wind and then stop working on start up.

My Specs are:
MB : Asus 970 pro gaming aura
3 TB hard drive
250 gigabyte ssd <---- OS is on this
AMD FX 8350 CPU
Evga supernova 850G PCU
16 GB corshair vengance pro ram

Also i have built it.

Thanks

Wait have you tried plugging your monitors in the ways I told you to? I gave you like 100 different combinations. :D Try to do something else then. Try to run in with one monitor. Install the new drivers and run crossfire with one monitor. After that just plug in the second monitor into a second graphics card and BUT WHEN THE SYSTEM IS OFF! Then boot the system and see if it...

Try to disable ULPS in you registry :

start>type regedit.exe>press F3 and type EnableULPS>press f3 several times until you find in a subfolder named 0000 a thing called EnableUlps>change the value from 1 to 0

Again keep pressing f3 find subfolder named 0001 with a thing called EnableUlps>change the value in reg entry from 1 to 0

It should work

Hope I helped! :)

Hi thanks for your response i have disabled it and it has stopped the freezing. But my second moniter still has no response. I forgot to say that it is a vga only moniter. So i have a vga to hdmi connector. Could this be the problem ?

To be ohnest it shouldn't be aproblem. But these days the chineese adapters are very crap , in my case I needed a better adapter in order for it to even work. These good ones are arround 5 usd. Can you try to for example run a tv with this monitor at the same time? Just in order to see if there is no problem with two hdmi monitors working. If not it might be that crossfire doesn't fully support a double monitor setup. I haven't ever used a crossfire to run with two monitors really , but I will do everything in order to help you. :)

One more thing , do you use a single connector in every card? I think it should be like that : HDMI in one card , the HDMI with VGA connector in the other. :D

Thanks I really appreciate your help. What did you mean by using a single connector in every card ? Also i have ordered another adaptor to be on the safe side.

I mean that you plug your both monitors with 2 different cables. Make sure that both of them are not connected to one card. Connect one cable for example hdmi to one card and the other with vga adapter to the other one. It should help. So one cable to one single card. Not two monitors connected to the same card :D I hope it's clear at this time. Sorry for beying so chaotic I had a hard day and I am tired :)

Try to plug both into one card just to see if it works. It is not recommended but give it a try. If it doesn't work try to use both DVI-D and HDMI outputs in one card and then if it doesn't works try to connect one card with DVI-D to one monitor and the other with HDMI to the second monitor :D

First of all , do these things :

1.Click with your right mouse on your desktop and chose display settings

2.Click the Multiple Displays list, and select Duplicate these displays or Extend these displays or Show only on 1 or Show only on 2

3.Chose identify to see 1st and 2nd monitor

4.In case you have some problems look at this video it will help you : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=38NPxhujOxo

5.If none of these helps look at the following video : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9ugMUVbUkI

6.Try to connect 2 monitors into one card connecting number ONE monitor with HDMI cable and number TWO monitor with a DVI-D to DVI-D cable.

So it seems that your monitor is not beying recognised. Did you plug both monitors into one card WITH DIFFERENT CONNECTION TYPES both hdmi and dvi-d at the same time? Of course you need to reboot your system every time you plug your monitor back in -.-

Hope you were doing that every time XD

Install crimson 17.4.4 or 17.5.2 if the first one doesn't works. :)
