i just dropped my 1TB WD HD for the second time now, the first time the casing opens up and exposed the inside, but when i plug it, it still working, it happens long ago, then it happens again, but the fall was not as high as it was, still the casing opens up and the HD jumps out to the floor, then when i plug into my mac it doesnt recognize it, i tried opening Disk Utility which resulting, it detect my HD, but theres no data, looks like a formated disk. i dont know what to do honestly theres so much valuable data and photos in this HD, im now trying to save it by using a HD recovery program named StellarPhoenix, but it took so long since its 1TB... in Indonesia repairing hd would cost you a lot, around 100$

Solution
$100 to repair a bad drive is very cheap.

Connect the drive directly to the computer, not using the enclosure see if that helps. If you are running a recovery program, let it finish then see what to do next.

Hard drives and drops do not mix, you could have easily damaged it where you need to have it physically fixed, not through a recovery program.

Do not keep single copies of your files around, if the data is valuable, keep at least one backup somewhere.
