Sorry if re-post.
Dell Inspiron laptop has 80GB drive with W7 Home premium.
I want to replace it with a 160GB drive from another laptop which was running W7 Pro.
Can I just install the 160GB hard drive?
or do I have to format it and do a clean install of W7 Pro?
I have the full version CD of W7 Pro.

TIA,

The replacement drive has 4 partitions: 1) OEM (Reserved) 70MB, 2)Recovery-Primary 10GB, 3)System 136.5GB, 4)MEDIADIRECT 2.5GB
Thought I had to install Windows in the Primary?

Do I have to remove the partitions and re-format the drive? In an exterior enclosure?
TIA

Ah, didn't think to ask if it's was partitioned. In that case yes, def. remove the partitions, format and re-install the OS fresh.
