Hi guys,

Here the thing. My friend is going to upgrade his GPU which is currently a GTX 780 (Zotac), to something better. His reason on why he wants to upgrade because he said that his GTX 780 cannot handle 2k resolution. Well for me I'm still fine with 1080p.

I just want to ask you guys if GTX 780 is still a decent card or should I skip this one? He is selling the card for 5000 pesos, which is roughly $100, I think. For me I think its a good buy. But I want your opinions also. Thanks

My current PC build:
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3 (Rev 3.0)
RAM: GSkill Ripjaws 4gb 1333
Processor: AMD Athlon II X4 640
PSU: Aerocool VP Pro 500
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB
GPU: EVGA GTX550 TI

Any answers would mean so much to me. Thanks in advance!

Its still a decent card if you dont need anything more. (I got a 290 from a friend for free to replace my 760, still runs 1080p great, and its around a 780s level).
If you know its working well (which you can easily check) I would grab it.

That being said, you should try to get a newer processor alongside it, but I wouldnt pass up a 780 for that price.

The 780 uses a lot of power. It's a good price but I wouldn't do it, because your power supply is not really that good. The other issue is that your CPU is not enough for certain newer games, so a lot of the performance of the 780 would never be used anyways.

I would recommend you keep looking. Look for a 2gb card, that requires 1 6 or 8 pin pci-ex connector at most. Something like a GTX 660 or HD 7850.

I just want to say thank you so much for answering. Each of your opinions will be considered.

Since the price is pretty good for a 780. I might as well upgrade my PSU, then next is my Processor. I'll never skip PSU again.
