Hi there! I'm an animation student, and I'd like to build a PC that allows for smooth (25fps, or as close to there as is manageable) viewport frame-rates in Autodesk Maya 2015. The character models/rigs I'm using aren't compatible with the parallel evaluation mode introduced in more recent versions of Maya, so I think this means that high CPU core speed is more important to me than having many cores. Would something like the Intel Core i3-7350K or i5-7600K would be good?
I won't really be doing any rendering in Maya - I'm just interested in making Maya's viewport as speedy and responsive to animate in as possible. I will be doing quite a lot of rendering with After Effects though. Portability is important to me, so I'm hoping to use a Mini-ITX case. I'm hoping to keep my budget under €800, but I'm willing to go a bit higher if that's too unrealistic. I don't need a monster rig, just something that'll be a decent upgrade from the 2.6GHz dual-core + integrated graphics sluggishness I'm working with currently.
Would it be possible to get some tips or lists of suggested components? I've never built a PC before, so I'd really appreciate any advice!
