I just bought an
ASRock AB350 Pro4. I haven't built the system yet, because my Ryzen 7 1700 CPU is still "in the mail".
I chose the AB350 Pro4 for a number of reasons:
■ I wanted a board that supported booting from an M.2 NVMe drive, and the ASRock specs called that out specifically
■ the M.2 slot is above the graphics card slot. Some boards bury the M.2 slot underneath the graphics card, which seems like a bad idea if you want to keep your SSD cool
■ newegg had a great deal going ($110 CDN after rebate)
■ I like the black and white colour scheme
■ it even has an RGB header, which surprised me for a B350 board
■ 4 PWM fan headers
■ 6 SATA ports
It has the type A and type C connectors associated with USB3.1, but the specs do NOT mention 3.1, so that may not be present. I was not too concerned about that.
Note that all B350 boards do support overclocking, although I suppose it is up to each manufacturer to decide how easy to make that in the BIOS.
I think I might eventually upgrade to an X370 board, once the manufacturers figure out how to get their RGB control software working to my satisfaction. But on paper the ASRock AB350 Pro 4 looks like a sweet board that'll do everything I want.
I took a quick look at the specs for the Asus Prime B350 Plus, and it looks like a great board too. It's only got one M.2 slot, but it specifically calls out support for USB 3.1. I'm a huge fan of Asus, and would buy a board from them any day.
I've been trying to get Gigabyte to answer a technical question on a different board, and am getting no response, so that has soured my impression of that company.
