Hello everyone, I'm in the final stages of ordering an upgrade to my current AMD system.

Current Rig.
AMD FX-8350
GSKILL 4GB DDR3 1600 MHZ
GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 AMD 990FX

and gonna buy..
Ryzen 1600 w/ cooler

ASUS Prime B350-Plus

now for ram, I see the Motherboard says "up to 3200 mhz ram" so I have two choices for ram atm.

Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB
3000

3200

The difference is 10 bucks, in your opinion is it worth?

Also if you have any opinions on those items pls let me know.

By the way, forget Asus. I had a x370 prime pro. The damn thing was DOA because Asus uses a faulty BIOS at launch. The bastard wanted to RMA my board and send me a reconditioned unit.

Hell no, I told them before doing the RMA that I was not going to accept a recondition board. They told me it was not going to happen... until it was in the process to be. I was not able to exchange the board to the store if I received a different board. It was just a matter of switching the BIOS.

I end up canceling the RMA, having the board shipped back to me and get a refund from the store. All this lasted a damn month. It was not the first time I had issues with them, but I can tell you it was the last time!

Suit yourself, but Asus is far from the...

So you are saying that if I get the 3000 or 3200 mhrz RAM that I can't just install it and go, I'll have to do something else?

and by flash do you mean update the bios of the Motherboard?

Also, I should be able to install everything, install windows..etc and then upgrade the bios if need be? it's not something that has to be done on first boot up?

So just because the Asus site, and the information states that it does support 3200 ram, that doesn't mean out of the box it does?

That I'll have to update the bios and/or alter settings for the ram in settings?

... Edit.

So if I get the 3200 RAM the worst cast scenario is that the MB will only use it @ 2400 or 2666 (EXAMPLE) and I would have to update my bios and/ore go in and manually change the timing/voltage to obtain what the RAM can do.

yes mate.
there have been some ram compatibility issues that came to light at launch of ryzen.
so while the board says it will support 3200 ram it will depend on if that ram config (single or dual rank( ram chips on 1 side or both sides of the ram pcb)is specifically is supported.

when you first install the ram it will default to 2133 for the first boot this is the same for all ddr4 motherboards.
also note with ryzen when you first power on after finishing the build it may take a couple of restarts before all the hardware in the system is fully recognised.

Understood, since the price difference between the 2400 and the 3200 is 16 bucks, I might as well get the 3200.

It was a new platform, it was to be expected. I find it funny that people went nutz over this like it never happened before.

Thanks I will get the 3200, question about first boot up and installing..etc

I'm gonna get a 16GB USB flash drive, I can put both Windows 10 installer and the latest Asus Bios on this same Flash and I should be able to update the Bios first, and then after restart, do the windows 10 install.. that should work yes? that is the norm?

Suit yourself, but Asus is far from the company it once was.
