Hey guys and gals,

I am upgrading my graphics card and have a few questions.

PC specs:
i7-3770K@3.5mhz (4 cores)
Corsair DDR3 Memory Kit 4Gb
-PSU I will be upgrading to a
EVGA 650 GQ, 80+ GOLD 650W, Semi Modular.
-Current Graphics card is an Nvidia geforce gt 610.

I have been told that I could install up to about 1070 without running into much bottle necking. This seems like a big jump to me but I am no expert. Just want to make sure that I will be able use the card to at least close to its max potential. Also, when I do upgrade to something like a 1070 or 1060, will I need to install any type of cooling or another fan. Thanks in advance and I hope I have provided good info and specs.

You did provide sufficient info. Yes, your computer should be able to run a GTX 1070 with no problems. That being said, I would add a little bit more RAM alongside all the other upgrades you are doing.

After getting the GTX 1070, you don't have to install any type of cooling or such, considering that your case/system already has good airflow.

If you're going for 1080p gaming, I would honestly recommend a GTX 1060 6gb edition over the 1070.
Here's a $180 GTX 1060 3gb: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814487263&cm_re=GTX_1060-_-14-487-263-_-Product
Here's a $240 GTX 1060 6gb: https://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-Support-Graphics-06G-P4-6161-KR/dp/B01IPVSGEC/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1496065495&sr=1-1&keywords=gtx+1060+6gb

Ok, thanks so much for the feedback. Would you try to upgrade to DDR4 or would that be to much, also would you recommend a certain amount of ram to be added? Sorry for the newbie questions.

DDR4 RAM would need a new CPU and a new motherboard.

No, no question is a dumb one. You can only get DDR4 ram with Skylake or above (Intel 6k series of CPU). Your current CPU and motherboard only supports DDR3. You should have a minimum of 8gb of ram, and I would recommend 16gb, since that will be standard soon.

Good luck!
