Cheap water vs. expensive air, no OC

Hello! I was thinking about buying a new medium-priced cooler, and I need some advice. While there are several similar threads, I didn't find any of them to really match my situation. To start off, I have a core i7 4770 (no OC planned, stock speeds only), and an Aerocool Xpredator X3 case.

So I used to have a really huge CPU air cooler, but it was such a pain in the a** to put on that during one maintenance I just didn't bother and put on a stock cooler. The noise from it is starting to drive me crazy, however. Originally I thought about buying some cheap water cooler, but I'm not sure if it will be worth it.

This is the one I was thinking about: https://www.alternate.nl/Antec/H600-Pro-Waterkoeling/html/product/1239285?lk=9351

It's really cheap and looks really nice. While 120mm might not be much, I don't think a 240 will fit in my case. My mobo has a pretty big heatsink next to the CPU and it slightly sticks out over the mounting points on top of the case. 5cm thick radiator+fans would likely get in the way of it.

So it's either one of these cheap water coolers, or an expensive air cooler. And while a lot of people seem to recommend air coolers, they are just so difficult to put on and don't look nice at all. I thought I might as well spend €10 more from the air cooler I was looking at and get this cheap water cooler.

So here is my question, keeping all of that in mind: are cheap water coolers really as bad as people make them out to be? I want it to be quiet and look nice, even with stock cooling my CPU runs about 70-75C while gaming, so performance isn't as much of an issue. I just don't feel like the air coolers are quite worth the money at that point, and cheaper ones won't perform optimally. €55 seems like a perfect point to get something nice, relatively quiet, and assumingly performing relatively well.

Solution
The gammaxx 400 should be €30-40 tops mate

It also features a very simple fixing mechanism with the stock intel pushpins - no backplate change needed at all
Fix the 2 arms to the cooler , spread the paste , clip it down , done

It takes all of 2 minutes.

like that corsair h100 units you see a lot of threads here on seems like a cheap air cooler does as good as that expensive water unit ???

I've used this on amd and intel builds and on my 4670 now never had issue with it ?

Vortex Plus

with any of this stuff you buy you try and hope it don't make you cry .. whats good or junk to me him or the guy down the road maybe the opposite result for you ?

user experiences differ from one guy to the next as do opinions on whats best

why I like to look at any coolers mounting and hardware to see how involved it is to mount some takes a act of congress to install some are easy as pie .

like that vortex plus is simple uses stock AMD latch and intel push pin so its as easy as any stock cooler to mount up

Ah, that's good to hear. Honestly, mounting is one of the biggest issues I had with my last air cooler. It was so big that you pretty much had to screw the screws in from the side with your fingers. Though the Vortex seems kinda on the small side.

All the good, big coolers will cost me around €40-45, which makes it pretty tempting to just go for the €55 water cooler. Or will that actually be a decrease in performance from these air coolers? I mean, I'm using a stock Intel cooler atm, so I think anything will be an improvement. And the looks are pretty important to me as well.

A €40-45 air cooler will almost certainly beat a €55 liquid.
Don't be caught up in the thought that liquid is automagically better.

Solution
nice they looked at that before manufacturing it for sale . some must not at all and find the close slot maybe useless [lol.. and never correct there coolers for it ]

good cooler reviews tend to show that depending on the board and slot location of that board .. .

you have to take all that in consideration . may not block on this board but may on another kinda thing .

good luck on your next cooler check any reviews on it and any end user comments /forum threads form guys that got one all ready to see what they have to say or issues with one

enjoy
