i have tried to use an old router as a internet access point. i turned of dhcp and now i cant find the default gateway for the old router. it can connect to it and use the internet but i wanted to get to the settings. i have tried factory resetting it a couple of times but it does not work.

It depends on the router. You may or may not be able to get to the settings. You might try doing a factory reset on the router (to get it back to router mode), then set a static IP address on the router in the correct subnet as your primary router. THEN disable the DHCP server. Some routers the only way to set the subnet on them is by changing the DHCP server. It just depends on the router.

What router do you have ?
