EVGA 1080ti FTW3 vs KINGPIN on custom water loop OVERCLOCKing

I recently purchased an 1080ti EVGA FTW3 and am gaming @1999mhz and 6003mhz mem
127% power target, +26 gpu offset, 1.093v, temps max a 63 Celsius with aggressive fan curve. STABLE STABLE STABLE
I can get 2012mhz @+39 gpu offset and can get 2025mhz @ +52 gpu offset but is not 100% stable ....my FTW3 crashes at that speed (AFTER 15 MIN IN UNIGENE HEAVEN)

This gpu down clocks as low as 1924mhz when gpu boost sees fit or when temps get above 60 celcuis(THATS WHY I AM WATER COOLING AND ALSO I AM WATERCOOLING TO CURE THE UPGRADE ITCH)

I currently have a custom loop ordered from EKWB and performance PC.....and will get FTW3 EKWB water block wen released in a couple weeks....

** here is the parts list from performance pc **

Subtotal $ 635.76
Shipping $ 54.49
Discount (fluidgaming) -$ 63.58
Grand Total $ 626.67

NOT BAD $700.00 for whole loop(INCLUDEING TAX AND SHIPPING). excluding 1080ti ftw3 water block and the tubing and the KOOLANCE external mount.....
I know I don't need 480mm and 360mm radiator YET, BUT I WILL WHEN I UPGRADE TO NEW CPU AND MOBO WITH FUTURE SLI..... and parts were all really reasonable.....360MM wilkl be inside the HAF X and 480mm in back external with d5 res pump and res in 2 slot 5.25 drive bays.

here are my questions!!!!! (please see rig in sig for system specs)

1. I cant help but think that maybe I could have waited for the kingpin 1080ti but I don't think that it will be that much better of an overclocker due to pascal limitations. What do you guys think?

2. I can get 2012mhz and 2025mhz but crashes in 10 to 15 min... Will custom loop help with that or did I loose the lottery or is it a voltage limitation?

3. Do you think a new bios for FTW3 and/or kingpin will be released helping us with water cooling to increase voltages for higher overclocks?

4. Should I have buyers remorse now that 1080ti kingpin is on the horizon????

thank you for your answers.....I was kinda taken back when I saw the 1080ti kingpin getting 2025mhz outta the box and here I am stuck at 2000mhz .... I know there isn't a big difference and the kingpin probably wont go much higher than 2100mhz under water or air, but I waited for the FTW3 and could have had a founders edition under water a lot sooner...

1.the thing with pascal, is that it's about silicon lottery and not he card models.
Even 1080 SC or FE would clock as kingpin or FTW with full cover block to manage temps.
2. no, water cooling will not increase the stability of overclock - you don't hit thermal limits anyway. your card seems to be more power-voltage limited. There is a cure for that called "power mode" done with liquid metal. Easy to do.
3. probably no
4. definitely no.

As a side note(s):
1. get tube res. bay reservoirs are pain in A.
2. I'll not criticize the size of the rads, the more is better, but the choice. X-Flow GTS is so much easier for filling, draining and most importantly tubes routing. And i'd completely skip the EK's rad and fans. well, everything but the GPU blocks. There are so much fun staff that the EK is just boring.
3. The only true fan for the radiator is Noctua NF-F12 (120mm) and NF-A14 (140mm). If you want them in black, industrialPPC is all you need.
here are examples of cool things:

Pump tops resertvoirs and mounts:

the top is simply awesome - you can either attach the res directly or via additional tubing. the frosted version defuses LED so beautifully.
it's just my loop is less than a year old. otherwise I'd get those above for myself :)

thanx, but I already bought everything...I have a HAF X case that I love I will continue to have an extreme positive pressure setup even with the new water cooling, and the bay res and d5 pump combo works perfectly for me flushing will not be an isuue as I use compressed air. I need the gts 360mm nemisis for top clearance(its one of the best performing slim rads according to xtremerigs.com) , my asus vii formula mobo chrosschill VRM is big limits the thickness of the top rad and fan... the 480mm is external and the EK Varder F4-120er fans are pretty good and dead silent at 1000 RPM and I bought them BULK for $8.99 a piece and since I need 12 fans for push/pull on the external 480mm rad and three fans for 360mm internal rad, one is extra for another pc, I saved a considerable amout of money. I am hoping I can water cool gpu so I don't thermal throttle @1999mhz after heating up....everthing I bought to tuned to sub 1000RPM fan speeds so it should be super quiet and when I upgrade to HEDT platform and SLI again, I will have enough cooling capacity to be close to ambient...

Well If you already have it, it's a completely different story :)
I was talking about black ice nemesis GTS X-Flow - it's the same thickness, just XFlow and not U-Flow like yours. I have two of those :)
Again, your card is not thermal throttling at 60C - thermal throttling is at 84C for pascal cards. You card is power limited. the only way to fix it is to trick the card to think it draws less power. the most convenient way to do that is to apply liquid metal thermal paste on 3 shunt resistors. that will increase power limit roughly by additional 15% on top of what you can do in MSI afterburner.

weird. I can stay at 2012mhz when card is just starting out at 40 celcius or less. then as temps rise, the card will downclock further down to 1924mhz at its lowest , I thought it was adjusting down a bin or two... I have power target at 127%, voltage at 1.093v, mem offset @500 , gpu offset @39, with aggressive fan curve...

but I will try your suggestion!!!!!! once I get the FTW3 block from EK

I just read that the X-flow has less resistance than the U-flow. I may be able to switch the order from performance pc
the thermal performance is comparable between the two as well

if you want to test the "power limit" theory, just downclock the memory. not to 0, take the slider all the way left.
if your GPU maintaining higher clocks with such config, you are hitting power limit.
BTW, I've seen 0 benefit going above 1.063v. The most convenient OC for my card is 2000GHz@ 1.05v and +550 for memory.
the max max is 2112@1.063v but +0 VRAM. I tested it with different values on the manual curve.

thanx I will test it soon. I have emailed performance pc about the GTS 360 cause it hasn't shipped yet to see if I can switch to GTX 360

I did EXACTLY what you said..... I can only get to 2000mhz without crashing........that is probably the limit of my gpu. I AM OK WITH THAT!!!!! 2000mhz is very stable also......a good 24/7 overclock!!!!!!! aslo I am going with the GTS 360mm Nemesis .. for $63 dollars its a steal!!!!!!!!

The K|NGP|N card was designed alongside the champion overclocker himself K|NGP|N. The differences in the card from the other EVGA cards are that it has a much better power delivery system allowing it to deliver up to 800 watts across the whole card. This is useful for when overclocking using LN2. It will also have very high quality capacitors, resistors, etc. to allow for the best, most stable overclocks. But in reality, unless you are overclocking on LN2 you will most likely not see much difference in your results, even on water, to your FTW card. Basically it is a nice to have, niche product rather than a need to have. See the two videos bellow for more information.
