I have the above PC with 8GB ram and an i54460 and want a modest graphics card mainly for playing CS:GO and older games in general. I'm not looking to invest in playing newer titles so I don't need anything fancy. I'm also aware that my PSU is 300w and ideally I would rather not upgrade that.

Thanks

Rob.

There are a whole range of cards, new and used, that will run off the power they get off the motherboard. The 750 Ti is one of those cards. The RX 550, 460, and 560 are AMD new cards that fall in this category, along with Nvidia's 1030, 1050 and 1050 Ti.

Considering your modest gaming needs, any of these cards will get the job done. There is a sizable jump in performance if you were to pick the 1050 or 1050 Ti, but does it matter to you? Probably not. So then I would just buy a 1030, not a 750 Ti. I doubt you'll find a new 750 Ti substantially lower in price than a 1030. Besides modest gaming performance, the 1030 gives you up to date outputs and video acceleration.

You need to upgrade your psu. I recomment corsair , be quiet and evga psu's. 300w is not enough. Here are the psu's and gpu's that I recommend :

Hope that there are enough gpu's and psu's that you can choose from. Keep in mind all of these are very good so you can choose by price / look etc. Which one you like. Keep in mind if you don't want to change the case you need to chose from the low profile cards with one fan. But you should change the case in order for everything to work for 100%. :D

Thank you for your swift response.

I've done a bit more research and the GeForce GTX 750 Ti seems to be the best choice if I don't want to upgrade the PSU. Would you agree? Or are there similar range cards that are better?
