My i7-7700K suddenly overheating

The other day i was playing Overwatch and noticed that my case was boiling hot, i downloaded HWMonitor and discovered that my CPU was getting mid 70 to low 80 degrees whilst in game and mid 30 to 40 when idle.

preforming basic tasks like watching videos, Photoshop playing simple 2D games (hearthstone, Binding of Issac etc.) have little to no impact on my CPU temp however when i load up any 3D game my CPU quickly climbs to ~80 degrees

The games which i have found to be heating my CPU include Overwatch, CSGO and GTAV. these are the most frequently played games on my PC and seem to be causing my CPU temperature to get hot fast

I have remove and inspected current CPU cooler and reapplied thermal paste but the problem still persists i only recently brought these components and i'm not sure what the problem is.

PC SPECS:

Processor: i7-7700 4.2GHz
Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-Z270P-D3
CPU cooler: Arctic Freezer 7 Pro Rev 2
RAM: 16GB Kingston HyperX Fury Black 2666MHz Dual Channel
OS: Windows 10
GPU: GTX 1060 6GB
Case: BitFenix Nova Mid Tower case, Black, Windowed

Solution
The 92mm fan is likely the issue...... along with the fairly limited airflow in the Nova case.
While the 7 Pro Rev 2 is a theoretical 150W TDP cooler, I don't see how that's possible with such a small fan.
Even 'budget' options like the 212EVO are 120mm fans.

The games you've noticed (well, GTAV and CS:GO) are more CPU intensive - can't speak to Overwatch, so it's not overly surprising unfortunately.

What is your cooling setup inside the case? How many fans? Intake/exhaust #'s?

Yea i feared that that the fan maybe the issue and was looking into purchasing an 212EVO

I currently only have one case fan which is 120mm which is just a standard fan which came with the case, i don't understand what you mean by intake/exhaust, but the airflow isn't great, so i have resulted in removing the window from the size of the case this helps with the airflow but doesn't really change the cooling.

i'm not sure if the CPU has been overheating since i built the PC but i have only noticed the problem in the past two weeks

yes, although the front of my case is blocked by my hard drives and cables so i'm not sure if it would be beneficial.
