I don't think heat did it. Heat has never been a problem as it's never gone over 70c and that was just stress testing. Normally daily use never exceeded 65c. The corasir H105 does not have a pump setting, so it's at max all the time and I can see the RPMs are reporting correctly,1800RPM. I thought it was the pump at first too but that was not the case.
I don't really know exactly how electricity and temp sensors inside a CPU work but i'm just guessing that the sensor went bad as a result of the processor being overclocked, again I'm not a engineer so this is just my best guess. But yes I would agree with you that as a result of the oc it has damaged the CPU in that it cannot accurately report temps anymore. But as far as using the processor I see no issues with it, no crashing, no shutdowns,plays games just fine. Only issues I can see is the temp reporting.
What are your thoughts behind stock? If it can operate at an OC rate what makes you think it would not operate at stock clocks?
