I had a short circuit under the same fuse in my house and all went black. When i repowered everything my computer didnt start for some time. And now it takes 3 reboots everytime i start computer and i also get BSODs 2-3 times a week. Everytime i power on computer it doesnt go past boot drive initiation at first. First time it crashes 5 sec into boot, second time 0.5 sec into boot and third time is the good boot, until the next BSOD.

My motherboard is Gigabyte Z87X-UD3H
My power supply is Corsair RM750

I am thinking its a motherboard failure. Is there any way to resolve this myself? Should i contact Gigabyte or Corsair warranty?

But my power supply has loads of protections to avoid things like that. This wasnt a short circuit inside my computer, but at another socket 5 meters away!

Over-voltage, over-current protection, under-voltage protection, short circuit protection, over power protection, and over temperature protection provide maximum safety to your critical system components

There are protections in the PSU, why would i need UPS? I am thinking PSU warranty should cover the damages, either motherboards or PSUs itself. But maybe somebody knows what is the exact failure here? Some cap or wire?

a ups keeps electricity to feed the pc in case of a power outage, also can stabilize the voltages offered to the pc conencted to it

can take some beating form electrical accidents like the one you experienced

the psu has some protections, yes, but is not perfect and once a over the limit voltage decides to find a way into some psu component it can kill it or make it work not as expected

same applies for the mainboard

if you don't want to believe me, that is ok, lets wait for some one else who could offer other ideas here, while that happens, consider buying the psu, the mainboard and a ups

Let's see, Corsair is a big name-brand PSU company so they have spec sheets for everything. Corsair lists a hold-up time of 16 milliseconds for that PSU if power is removed at 80% load. That's 0.016 seconds of no-power the PSU can ride out. If you can repair the short and reset the breaker within this time then nothing will get lost or corrupted.

Depending on the UPS you buy, they are generally rated 5 or 10 minutes runtime at maximum load when the battery is new. As batteries age rapidly it is generally a good idea to oversize it a bit, but then even a couple minutes from an aged UPS would give you enough time to shut things down gracefully. Something you can't do in 16 thousandths of a second.

Chances are it's just some corruption a chkdsk and sfc /scannow would catch, but things like RAM and disks do die so test those out before considering mobo and PSU.

As for your thinking it would cover anything besides the PSU being "free from defects in material and workmanship," Corsair's warranty also states:
Limitation of Liability
CORSAIR SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL, INDIRECT, OR
CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES WHATSOEVER, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF
PROFITS, REVENUE, OR DATA (WHETHER DIRECT OR INDIRECT) OR COMMERCIAL LOSS
FOR BREACH OF ANY EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTY ON YOUR PRODUCT EVEN IF
CORSAIR HAS BEEN ADVISED PREVIOUSLY OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
Also note:
Exclusions
This warranty does not cover problems or damage resulting from, but not limited to, any of
the following:
• Connection to any improper voltage supply

So no warranty.. that sucks. Im wondering if i can find what really happened there. I am wondering how could i atleast fix boot issues. First time booting it stops on error DB - Flash update is failed. Does this help in any way? Before that AB - Wait user command in BIOS Setup. Before that A9 BIOS Setup is started. Second and third boots dont provide any useful information.
