So the title pretty much says it all. But heres what's going on. I'm building a PC, and being a thrifty type person I'm wondering will a power supply from a old Dell XPS 400 work in the new computer. It works and Max output is more than enough of what I need. Is this ok? Is there a size difference or anything?

Solution
Work? Well yeah it will probably turn on.

I wouldn't use it. First off being a Dell it may not have a 24 pin connector, but lets just assume it does, its still 10 years old and PSUs degrade over time, hence even the best PSU warranties are 10 years, most are 5 or less.

Theres a time to be thrifty, when it comes to PSUs thats not the time.

it does turn on, the gpu is bad. I'm not trying to use it as a permanent solution, its more temporary for like a month or so.

Got it. Then it'll be replaced. Thanks for the advice.
