I recently got this monitor as it was relitively cheap for being 144Hz. However, upon connecting it to my PC using HDMI and checking both Nvidia control panel and Windows display properties I found that the monitor is only 60Hz with no option to increase it.

Any help would be great!

Solution
Strange, but thats definitely the issue. Maybe try using windows settings to "Add new Device" and try to re-add the monitor, maybe even delete the device "Generic PnP monitor" when doing this, so it recognizes its that monitor.

I doubt that the GPU will be the issue as I have a STRIX GTX1070, Most probably the issue will be an outdated hdmi cable

Indeed, purchase a good quality HDMI cable that supports up to HDMI 2.0 and you'll be good to go.

I also wanted to add that in Windows display properties it is listed as Generic PnP monitor

It did come with a disc however, it didn't have any drivers on it only contained the User Manual & Quick Start Guide.

I tried the Link but for some reason I cannot install it, double clicking does nothing and right clicking and choosing install profile does nothing.
