I have to ban my computer to a central location. I am working on this computer for a few hours every day from a different room within our home. I am looking for a solution where I can work on that computer "remotely" (within our LAN) with low latency. I don't play games but still it is important to me that:

* Screen updates are as fast as if I am on the computer itself (TeamViewer is a bit slow. That's the first place I can compromise, though).
* It can handle dual monitors (2x 1600x1200). That's kind of the hard part as otherwise I could consider HDBase-T (which would be my preference as it seems to give very fast screen updates).
* I could live with a small PC under my desk or glued to the back of my monitor but it has to support dual-monitor setups and have responsive screen updates.

Solution
Matrox markets products that cover your needs quite well on their own, but I doubt you have a budget for that.

If HDBase-T is working for you, except for the multiple monitor setup, you might add an HDMI-to-DP adapter to your HDBase-T setup and pipe that into something like a DualHead2Go, also by Matrox. No, I'm not affiliated with them, they just have the only solutions that come to mind. Sorry if it's not ideal, but it's the lowest cost solution I can think of.
