Installing CPU cooler / Northbridge blocking the way

Hey guys,
I'm having a little problem regarding the installation of a scythe katana 3 onto my CPU. It seems like the cooler is too big, and I'm having troubles getting the little mounting mechanism to get past the north bridge heatsink on the motherboard. It feels like maybe a few milimeters are missing in order for the thing to get past the north bridge, and the only way I could do it is by bending the NB heatsink. I'm not sure if I'm completely overseeing anything, maybe you guys can give me a hint?

The two sides of the cooler seem to be fully identical. I can't understand this concept flaw.
