If the motherboard was manufactured after the kaby lake supported bios update, the motherboard will work. However there are still some old one floating around the market so it's a game of luck.

If it doesn't have the right bios, you won't post. You will need to update it using a 6th gen CPU.

Some h110 motherboards, for example the ASRock H110M HDS R3.0, are guaranteed with a kaby lake bios.

There seems to be alot of old ones floating around because we still regularly get posts of people who have a 7th gen cpu and a 6th gen mobo having problems where it doesn't boot.
