Can CPUs run hotter in summer?

I have an i3 540, it used to run at 72C max while gaming just a while back but now it's gotten hot, it goes up to 79C while gaming now.
Is this result of a bad CPU or just hot weather? Should I just get an aftermarket cooler?

Solution
A dying cpu is not going to get hotter, no reason I can think of why it would. A dying CPU may become unstable at its stock clocks and voltage, requiring the voltage be increased to maintain stability, or it will just outright die. If the ambient temp in your room is higher than when you took that 72c reading then yes of course temps will go up potentially quite a lot depending on how hot ambient temp is. Other possibilities are dust build up, dried up thermal paste, maybe a dead case fan you haven't noticed.

If the ambient temp in your room is warmer, then yes...the CPU will run a little bit warmer.

A CPU cooler only cools in relation to what the surrounding temp is.
If you were inside a walk in fridge, it would show to be much colder.

My case is a third party brand named Legend so you probably won't find anything.
However according to the measurement I have made, it can hold coolers upto 152mm in height. Do note also I live in Pakistan so I cannot buy from Newegg. I was thinking of the Cryorig C7.

I really need to slow down. Sorry for clicking the wrong button!!!

Does your case have a top exhaust fan(s)? If you do, I think that's a good choice. The H7 will also fit.

What kind of RAM is in there?

The Cryorig H7 is much better than the 212 EVO.

Nope, the top of the case isn't open, there's one on the back however but it's an old designed case so I think it's a 92mm or something. And that works just fine. Not sure about RAM, I cleaned my PC a while ago but didn't look at the RAM, however it's a 2x4 pair of DDR3 @ 1333 mhz.

H7 may be a bit out of my range. But I'll see if I can do something. I am hunting for used.

From where I'm sitting, the C7 is more expensive than the H7.
YMMV.

You need to make sure your RAM heat spreader won't be in the way. I have less than a nickel's width between the base of my heatsink and the top of my RAM.

Weird, I remember it being 29$ a while ago, I'll see what I can find cheaper.
