I have an external hard drive which is not connecting. On inspection it appears the ish port is burnt out, explains why I can't access it.
My question is will the hard drive still be ok? How difficult would it be to change the sub port? Should I take it to a specialist?
Thank you in advance

Can you post of picture? There are several types of port for external hard drive....some have a usb embedded with the PCB, so this is tricky to fix but doable, some have just a normal usb not directly on the PCB, easier.....No need for a specialist.
