I have a problem with not being able to access Netflix on any android device. I have tested it using wired connection to a PC and wireless to laptop and these seem to be working okay.
However when trying to connect using android smartphone, tablet or TV it fails to connect.

The error I am getting on the android TV is: NW-2-5

Other streaming apps such as Amazon Video, Twitch, PlutoTV, e.t.c are working ok.

The connection to the android TV was also tested with both wireless and wired.

On the modem I have tried enabling IPTV however this did not change anything and probably was unrelated to this issue. I have also tried changing the NTP servers, DNS servers and enabling UPnP.

Technical Information:

Modem: Netgear DM200
Router: Quad Core J1900 Pico PC
Access Point: Unifi AP AC Lite

PfSense version: 2.3.4
Packages:
Bind
Squid

Any help would be appreciated.

Not sure on your level of skills. You should be able to load wireshark on your pfsense box and compare the traffic pattern from a session that works and one that does not. My total guess would be is it related to the squid proxy....then again it should not do much because the traffic is encrypted and the proxy should blindly pass it through.
Before getting Wireshark installed I performed another factory reset, upgraded firmware in my modem and this seems to have fixed the issue. I left all the settings as default apart from the PPPOE details and changing device mode to modem only.

where exactly is the failure? can you open the netflix website and browse, but fail at playback?

When accessing it either through the app or web browser on pc it works fine.
I have just tried to access netflix.com on the smartphone and I've had "ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE" back.

As for the playback, I am able to play the videos on pc, however it refuses to even connect when on android.

I will try disabling squid and check if it helps. As for getting a trace from wireshark I will try to get a working one when at work tomorrow and compare to my one.
