New DVD drive seen in BIOS but no burn software recognizes it

I installed a new hard drive with a fresh install of Windows 7. I added a DVD drive. It shows up in BIOS, Device Manager (no yellow marks) AND in "Computer". I have tried several different burn software and NONE can find the drive when I go to burn. One program DID act like it was burning it (took 40 minutes!) but no data when I put the DVD in another computer. At one point I inserted a DVD with a file on it and it showed up in Windows Explorer.

Did you validate your license for your Windows 7? Did you then run all updates for the new build? I wouldn't go with W7 anyway, as support has been dropped, and it is easy to upgrade to W10 with your valid license W7, then never have to worry about the license again till you swap the hardware out.

Internal SATA DVD drive. The new internal hard drive is SATA SSHD.

Wait, you said you added a DVD drive, and you keep referring to it as a DVD drive, not a DVD or Blu Ray burner. Normal DVD drives can't write discs. Are you sure the drive you added has the capability to burn discs? I know it's a silly question but, can your post the make and model perhaps?

Did not know there was such a thing! Its been years since I built a PC :) and all they had then were burners! Well at least it was cheap!

Thanks!
