GTX 1080, the performance is seemingly less than it should be.

I made a comment about my performance, and numerous people pointed it out as being lower than it should be. I specifically rememeber turning my resolution scaling down, (in Overwatch) but it might have turned itself back up somehow. I can't check because I'm not at my house.

Until I get home, you guys mind thinking of something it might be?

Specs:
Founder's 1080
4790k (stock clock)
Ripjaws 2x8gb
Rosewill HIVE 750w~, which is what I'm considering as one of the suspects.

I'll be home in around an hour or two.

Some more info: It's not just an Overwatch thing, I think my performance is just flat out lower than it should be.

My temps are fine from what I remember, but I'll check it out when I get home. I have recently been experiencing some quick heavy bursts of lag. (though the low performance predates that)

For a better idea of the low performance I'm talking about, my fps often dips below 144, when people with the settings and video card run it at a constant 144 at 1440p. Some really strange stuff.

So my settings weren't even set to ultra/epic, they were at high. (1 below epic)

However, the render scale was 141%, which I have lowered to 100%. (and set my graphics to epic)

I dropped to 120~ sometimes, in decently active fights.

My CPU averaged at 55c, and my GPU averaged at 76c. (max was 78) Could be lower, but that's not too bad, yeah? Founders card and all?

For Founders Edition cards, that's a good temperature and shouldn't start thermal throttling yet.

What is CPU usage while gaming? It'll probably fluctuate a bit depending on what the game is doing, so just the highest % you see will be fine.

Highest usage on a core is 98%, and the highest for the GPU is 99%.

I think I did notice very minor reductions of the clock at some points.

98% usage is pretty high. Is that during gaming or while loading the games?

Do you have any "I'll speed up your games", "process optimizer", or "game booster" programs installed? These sorts of programs almost always put more of a load on the CPU than if they weren't there at all.

Have you uninstalled programs that you no longer use and optimized startup objects? If you have Windows 7 or older, you'll need to use System Configuration to optimize startup objects. If you have Windows 8 or newer, it's now in the Startup tab in Task Manager.

Do you really need Discord to run at startup? How about opening it when you feel like talking and closing it from the notifications tray when you're done?

Do you really need Puush? Snipping tool mate.

From my experience, Rainmeter is a devil in disguise. It never really shows a lot of activity in Task Manager, but it really bogged my system down. Installing skins only made this worse.

I'm still dropping to 120fps, sometimes lower, in places other people supposedly maintain 144 at 1440p.

I'll try disabled rainmeter for a while to see what happens though, hopefully I'll see some sort of improvement.

As for puush, I use it religiously. I doubt it's part of the issue, but I'll see if disabling it does anything.
