Need processor for ASUS 970 PRO GAMING/AURA

I have a ASUS 970 PRO GAMING/AURA mobo and need to select a new processor for it.
Right now I am looking at a AMD FX-8370, would that be a good choice? If not what would be a good cpu for this board?

Background:I asked a friend to help me build a computer as I had no idea what components to choose. He chose a AMD FX-9590 which I've since learned is not only incompatible with the motherboard (220W) but is also a super hot cpu that no one has anything nice to say about.

I have no trouble with assembling the pc but I know jack all about choosing components. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The 8370 is the fastest 8xxx series CPU on the AM3+ platform you can get, it is supported and will work. You will want good CPU cooling, these CPU's do run hot. But I caution about adding money to an AM3+ build, it is a dead platform. A Pentium G4560 is actually a little faster and a B250 mobo plus this CPU can be had for about the same money. And then you have a brand new platform. About the only thing the 8370 has going for it is that it can be overclocked but you won't want to do that with a 970 chipset mobo.

Thank you for the answer, imsqam. Although, now I am a littler torn on whether or not to just get a new platform motherboard and cpu because I think I would then need to buy new memory as well. Right now I already have the 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2133 (PC3 17000) but the B250 says it takes 288 pin DDR4 2400/ 2133. I am correct that this ram would not be compatible with the B250? If not, what RAM would you recommend?
