Hi, I bought a new drive because I was thinking ahead and decided to replace my 3-4 year old HDD before something crashed inside of it.

Anyhow, here's the comparison..

Which one's actually better? :f

Intended use: DATA drive in second bay in laptop, used mostly for seeding, download location, storage for inactive / dormant games off the 240GB SSD

Note: I connected the new drive via USB to pull the stats.

the Seagate seems better only as there is a bigger gap between its Relocated sector count. 200 - 10 sure beats 200 - 140. The temps on the WD also seem higher.

It might be an illusion though given the WDC drive is the new one - based on hours on count. Seagate looks almost new as most of the current and worst all agree

not all manufacturers rate them the same, and they have different starting numbers. look at uncorrectable sector count, the seagate starts with 252 whereas the WD is 100

some figures might be closer once you plug WD drive in instead of over USB, but they both look fine to me.
