Hi so my ethernet conection with powerline adapters doesn't have a valid ip and I have tried everything to solve it with no result. This problem occured right after I closed down a cleaning tool called advanced system care while it was fixing my security holes. Since it worked once after basic troubleshooting but since then has failed btw other devices work in the house. Here is a list of all the things I tried: 1. Cmd ipconfig /release and then ipconfog /renew I get am error saying an error occures while releasing intergace ethernet 2. I tried restarting the router with no result. 3. I checked to see if my wifi connection on the pc worked but the same problem 4. I tried doing ipconfig /all to manually insert the ipv4 properties but no resul because I can't find the default gateaway 5. I tried using Google's dns server with no result 6. I tried uninstalling my network adapters and then reinstallibg but again didn't work 7. I tried getting in the dhps server to set a static ip but it seems my thomson router doesn't have that option 8. I tried restoring my pc 1 day before and this was right after the problem happebed but no result 9. I replaced all ethernet cables and unplugged the powerline adapters but no result. What is going on here?! Only thing else I could try is to restore my pc before everything happened but I think it's a dhps server problem. Plz help I've lost my temper.

Once you've configured everything open a cmd, the same one you use to run ipconfig/all but instead of ipconfig type:

ping 192.168.1.1 (or whichever IP you've found out your router has), if successful you'll see something like this:

Otherwise you'll most likely get a "Request timed out" message meaning your physical connection seems to have some problem.
Well your router does have a DHCP server otherwise none of your other devices would work.

What you need to do is to take a look at the settings in one of your other devices, a simple ipconfig/all will give you all the info you need.

So lets say you get the following info from one working PC:

IP v4 Address: 192.168.1.33 <Preferred>
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1

DNS Servers: 8.8.8.8

You copy the same subnet mask, default gateway and DNS server, what you need to change is the IP address, to avoid any conflict choose a high number like 192.168.1.155

After this try to make a ping to the router's IP (its internal IP is your default gateway) if you get a successful ping you should have your internet connection restored, if it fails however this could mean some hardware issue, not getting any kind of connection to your router, in that case you'll have to check your powerline connection and such.

from a commandline:
ping 192.168.x.x
(whatever the IP address of the router is)

Typically, 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1

Once you've configured everything open a cmd, the same one you use to run ipconfig/all but instead of ipconfig type:

ping 192.168.1.1 (or whichever IP you've found out your router has), if successful you'll see something like this:

Sorry for the longest wait ever but I was unexpectedly away from the pc today. Anyway I tried the solution and it worked just like the link shows. But connection still doesn't work. Do I have to restart my pc or is there another step?

Lmao no update for 7 days. I fixed the problem 5 days ago but I came back to pick a solution don't want to leave you hanging. The problem was that my powerline adapters weren't configured correctly
