First of all here is a link to the build, price is CAD.
https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/V2yFnn

All i would like help with is making sure all the parts included good a nice gaming build. I don't care if its silent or loud, all i care about is that it preforms and is reliable.

I'm posting because my step brother is telling me i should spend more specifically on the motherboard, so just want some feedback that is not his, thanks for the help! If you can think of any part that would suit this build better please let me know!

I have no budget in mind, but i like where its at right now around the 1500 CAD range before taxes, but obviously the more money i can save the better.

Edit: The reason i chose this specific 1060 was because it was the cheapest one i seen that had 2 HDMI ports. Also if suggesting a cheaper alternative i am only trying to buy from sites that have free shipping like Amazon.ca, Direct Canada, & PC Canada.

If anyone needs more info let me know, i tried my best to give enough info this is my first time posting. lol

I wouldn't recommend waiting for Vega. If you keep waiting for the next generations, you'll just end up waiting forever. You'll wait for Vega, and it turns out it's not good, then you decide to wait for Volta, and by the time the most powerful Volta GPU is released, AMD starts advertising a Vega refresh, and then you keep waiting for the best, and never get to building. Just get what's best currently, plus Vega hasn't even started being produced yet. Ryzen CPUs had their production started in December, and then they were able to launch it in March. If Vega manufacturing hasn't even started right now, it's pretty obvious - it's not ready. Yes, they're saying it's going to be launched in July, which basically means August, and then by the...

I added an extra 2 cores, 4 threads, overclocking, a slightly more powerful power supply (not that you need it, but it was only $10 more :p) I changed the case to a really nice S340 elite. I changed the SSD to HDD ratio to 250:2000 as opposed to 120:3000, because I think you'll find it to be a better balance (120gb fills up REALLY fast). If you are doing any multi-threaded applications then Ryzen 5 will be better, however if it is gaming only, then the i5 will beat it marginally.
The CPU cooler is really, really good, so hopefully you will be getting some good overclocks!

Hope this helps!

For the storage i only plan on having windows on my ssd not really anything else, i just picked the cheapest ssd that had at least a few good reviews, and yeah it will basically be just gaming so i'm going to stick with the i5 and i am also not familiar with anything to do with AMD so i just feel more comfortable buying Intel once again. Thanks for the advice i'm going to look into a lot of the other suggestions you made!

Seriously, there isn't much difference between an AMD processor and Intel. Everything will be the same, but you will just have better value for your money. I know I'm pushing you, but Ryzen is really good - much better returns than any Intel processor. It will last you longer, since the higher core count will help with future games. The build suggested by Lehan123456789 is good, but I'd drop the CPU cooler, and use the stock one - AMD has very nice stock coolers, and it's definitely enough cooling for the 1600. Instead of the cooler, you should get a better motherboard like the Asus Prime B350-Plus, and also 16 gigs of DDR4-2400.

My recommendation would really be Ryzen - it is awesome for the price. And also, it's not slower than the i5. I mean yes, the clock speed is less, but you'll only notice the difference between the two if you play at >120 FPS, which doesn't seem to be the case here. At >120 FPS, the performance becomes slightly more CPU-intensive, and only then would the Ryzen slow down a bit - as games become more demanding, achieving such high frame rates would become tougher, so the difference between the i5 and the Ryzen 5 CPUs would become smaller and smaller.
In a nutshell, get Ryzen, it's not tough to switch to AMD - everything remains the same except the name of the processor and the chipset of the motherboard - your overall experience would be better and you will have better future-proofing. Nothing on your display changes by much.

I'm suggesting a very different build here, just so you have options:
CPU: Ryzen 5 1600
Motherboard: Asus Prime B350-Plus
Memory: G. Skill Ripjaws V DDR4-2400 16 GB (2x8 GB)
Storage: i. WD blue 1 TB WD10EZEX
ii. Sandisk Ultra II 240 GB 2.5" SSD
Video Card: MSI Geforce GTX 1070 8 GB Gaming X
Case: NZXT S340 (Black/Red)
Power Supply: EVGA 600W 80+ Bronze

Yes, this build has a GTX 1070 - much better value, much better potential for 1440p, or even 1080p@144 Hz, though I'd recommend 1440p due to the Ryzen CPU. You can take the suggestions in earlier answers for the OS. The total price, according to pcpartpicker, is $1469.21. You can check all the details here:

https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/QqRFnn

This build will run all current games at 1440p at high details or better at 60 FPS, maybe a few exceptions like Ghost Recon: Wildlands.

Hope this helps. Cheers!

Thanks a lot, Maybe i will got AMD i'll give it some thought, thank you for linking the potential amd build also! Are AMD cpus good for streaming? im by no means a professional streamer but my girlfriend likes to watch me play so ive streamed for her in the past and i want to be able to keep doing that, if this is the case is AMD still an option?

An AMD Ryzen is much, much faster in gaming and streaming simultaneously. Due to the higher core count, it is a better multitasker, and so even the Ryzen 5 1600 is much faster than any modern i7 in streaming while gaming. If you want to do that, it's one more reason to go for Ryzen over Intel. Ryzen is excellent for doing more than just gaming at one time.
Hope you go with Ryzen, because the benefits will be quite noticeable in your case. Cheers!

Yep 100%. Ryzen is the best for gaming. Period.

Just get the GTX 1070 and be happy, IMO.
