i built my friend his first pc and everything is brand new except for the mobo and cpu.
specs are:
asus z87-k
evga 2 x 4 gb ram (8gb)
evga gtx 1050 ti 4gb
600W psu
i5 4790 4th gen 1150
seagate 2tb hdd
we bought everything and i took my mobo out (which i used that morning) and put that and a spare i5 i had in his case. I turned the pc on and the fans work but the mouse and keyboard dont light up and there is no signal on the monitor and the hdd signal light dont work and neither does the reset button. I thought the i5 was bad so he bought a brand new one and had the same problem. i swapped the psu and it made no difference, i swapped ram, booted with no accessoried and had no luck. i took his pc home and put my i7 (which was originally used with his mobo) and the computer booted up perfectly, i installed windows and all. after that i put his i5 in and it didnt post again. i cleared the rtc ram, disconnected the mobo battery, updated the bios, literally tried everything and not even asus can help me, what could it be?

What bios version are you on because when I go to asus website and look at the cpu support some it says that "*Before using the new Intel 4th Gen Core processors, we suggest that you first download the BIOS updater for new Intel 4th Gen Core Processors and then update the BIOS using this tool" that bios version Version 1103 and Version 0903 and Version 0902 where cpu supports updates.
