I have an NVIDIA 1080 Founders Edition and I run CS:GO on a low resolution with most of the settings on high but only run about 300 fps. Before someone asks, yes, I did remove the 300 FPS cap in game. I do not know whats going on. Please help :D

I understand you think your hardware should beat your friend's hardware, but if you turn off that counter, do you notice any difference? You have to understand that these older games are not optimize for newer hardware. As TJ asked, please provide information about your friend's expereince.

Still I...

Ok well I'm not complaining but I feel a little dissapointed because I have friends with graphics cards that are generations behind mine and get better performance. I am using an i7-6700k and have a Samsung 4k monitor with a 60hz refresh rate. I am trying to reach more than 300 pretty much.

Are you sure your friend is using the exact same settings? What FPS is he getting, and what hardware does he have? You're probably CPU bottlenecked at that framerate anyway, so his older graphics card may not matter. Have you overclocked your CPU?

He has an Nvidia 1060 and running the same settings as me. I have not overclocked my CPU because I am afraid it will overheat and make me have to buy a new computer. Oh and he's getting like 600 fps.

Still I suggest to turn off the counter, and look for actual screen tearing, stuttering and things of that nature. In fact, grab a AAA title, max out the settings, and see if your friend is still getting better results than you. FPS is just a number, and should not truly matter if the quality isn't affected.
