Hi.
I currently have an amd fx 8320 black edition with a gigabyte 970 gaming motherboard. Iv noticed in some games that cut scenes and intro videos can be pretty juddery and loading times not great however once in the game the graphics are great and runs smooth at capped 60 FPS.
I have never overclocked the CPU however amd core boost is enabled.
What i wanted to do is disable boost and then set a proper overclock to 4.0ghz instead to keep it stable at that speed and not boosting in and out.
I went into BIOS and set multiplier to 20x giving 4.0GHz, keeping voltages at stock with it being only a little OC.
Once booted the comp runs fine and AMD Overdrive showing a steady 4.0GHz and temps staying OK.... this only whilst idling and doing small tasks mind.
However, when i first turn my comp on since this, the light and fans come on for a split second and then it all shuts off and then on again until a successful boot.... it can take 2 or 3 attempts.
Turning the OC off and going back to 3.5Ghz stock and it boots normal first time. Yet with boost enabled it runs at 4.0Ghz anyway and always has.
Just wondering from people that are more expertised in overclocking if this is a normal process?... iv looked around and seen alot of this on different forums but there seems to be mixed answers saying contrasting things.
SYSTEM:
AMD FX 8320 BLACK EDITION
COOLER MASTER TX3 COOLER
GIGABYTE 970 GAMING MOBO
8GB HYPERX FURY RAM @ 1866MHz
120GB SSD
1TB HDD
CORSAIR 450WATT PSU
any help appreciated
thanks
