Hi, i have Acer H61H2-AM Motherboard (LGA 1155), iam just replace my old CPU i5 2320 (sandy bridge) to i5 3470(ivy bridge), now PC doent boot, i can hear 4 beep sound from motherboard.Somebody saying Somekind of "System timer failure" need to change motherboard, so recently iam planned to upgrade my board to MSI PH67A-C43 (B3) or ASUS P8B75-M, i think my Acer H61H2-AM can only work with 2nd gen sandy bridge CPU's, is it? and i should need to upgrade my Mother to MSI PH67A-C43 (B3) or ASUS P8B75-M for working with i5 3470? Help me please :??:

Solution
4 beeps indicates a failure of the RTC Real Time Clock IC, or a failure in the first memory bank.
long test you can try to run memtest on the unit and let go for a few (3) passes look for memory errors
short test, remove one stick of ram and test the system. record results. Swap stick of memory and attempt boot. record results.
was one stick good and the other not? remove the not stick and look for a replacement.
