Hi , I am confusing either upgrade my CPU or GPU for rendering and gaming ..
currently my PC components r :
CPU : AMD fx 9590 .
GPU : gtx 960 strix 2gb .
Motherboard : asus sabertooth 990fx .

So my questions are :
1st:the temperature in my PC become hot when i am playing game and sometime it is stop working .Also when i am rendering by after effect it takes long time to finish so which one should i upgrade CPU or GPU ?i am planing to stop using amd cpu and upgrade to intel i7 to avoid high temperature.
2nd : if i use gtx 980 with same cpu can avoid high temperature ?
3th : which CPU I7 should i use for rendering and gaming ?

Solution
The FX series are the last gen AMD cpu which lacks on single core performance. so if you want to play games that doesn't make full use of all cores you will have problem. (most game from before 2015 will have poor use of multi core useage) game that uses DX12 should be alright.

Yes the FX9590 run hot. very hot in fact. that is why they even ship with liquid cooling. they are like the max oc of the fx8350 at some point in time. you have 3 option.
1, down clock your cpu so it doesn't run as hot.
2 get better cooling which it won't be cheap caz you will need top cooling to cool that cpu.
3 change of cpu.

if you pick 3. you can go with both Intel and AMD. the new gen AMD Ryzen run almost as good as the Intel. it hard to tell you which...

Answers :

1# No way you should upgrade to a Core i7 In any case if you want "Lower" Temperatures. Those chips run hot even with liquid cooling.

2# If you are referring to the Graphics Card temperature, it should stay relatively cool.

3# Definitely the I7 7700 ( K or non-k ) . That CPU Wreaks havoc at games, the only limiter is your GPU Really.

there is no right or wrong to pick which cpu. they will both last you a very long time (5+ years giving the history of cpu for the pass 10 years)

if you want to use intel whats your budget and whats the way you play games? for example do you open other things when play games on a 2nd monitor? or do you just want best fps on games? if FPS is what you are after. go for the Intel 7700. if fps doesn't matter that much. you can go with any i5,i7,ryzen5,ryzen7 cpu. just make sure they are this gen cpu and not last gen.

Look. Heating issue is because of the cooling system inside your cabinet. Whatever the processor of graphic card, temperature is always related to cooling system. What Heatsink do you use? The stock one? And how many fans are installed in your pc? Always try to maintain possitive air pressure on your cpu. If you are using a heatsink from amd change it right away because those are just garbage. Get a COOLER MASTER EVO, OR DEEPCOOL GAMMAX OR NOCUTA COOLER. And please look at videos on youtube on installation of required number of fans on your cabinet.

You don't need any case fans to improve cooling performance actually.

Just lower your voltages to it's minimum and the clock speed and you'll be running fine with the stock cooler.

1. first and foremost, Amd or Intel, both if improperly helped, will run hot. in your case the FX 9xxx series is infamous for its lack of ability to run cool.
you could under clock it, or water cool it, if the problem has been recent I suggest you get some thermal paste, remove your heatsink from CPU, and clean it and the top of the cpu of the old past, put a thin layer of fresh paste on the cpu and reassemble, then see how your temps are going.

2. can a GPU overheat of course, but normally cause by someone overclocking it, or thermal past (like cpu) is need to be replaced), using or not the GTX 980 with your CPU will not change the temperatures of your Cpu. no.

3. The current I7 would be I7-7700

if the GPU overheat can make PC suddenly stop working i meant when i am playing a game ? coz i am using cooler master seidon 240v 4 extra fan from the case ...so u tell me is better for me to change cpu rather then gpu ? :??:

if the CPU hits max temp it will throttle processes to help cool itself., so yes a CPU will Slow your gaming down or completely Jam/lock a PC because throttling was good enough to cool down before hitting do not cross MAX temp (about 95-100) to prevent it from burning out completely.

I gave you 3 options.... the last is to change CPU yes. to be Honest an FX8350 Overclocked would be better than an FX 9350

You can put in any gpu into a desktop. The 1800x is the amd this year cpu. It will run no problem with your gpu. If you plan to upgrade to play games with it. The gpu should be the first to upgrade. Than the cpu , ram. Do you use an ssd? The cheapest upgrade would be ssd for most pc if your os and games are not install to an ssd.

If you plan on build a ryzen just make sure you don't cheap on the motherboard and get some fast ram. And do remember to flash the bios of the motherboard with the latest software. the ryzen is a very new cpu. They are still coming up with lot of patches on both os software and bios software. Do watch a few YouTube video before you decide what to get to build the pc. A 1\2 an hour video can save you lot of time down the road on what to get.

A oc fx8350 is not going to be better than an fx9350. they are the same batch of cpu but the best pick of the batch become fx9350 and the 2nd grade became the fx8350. The reason it run hot is caz it oc in default with too high of a voltage to make sure the cpu can run in such clock speed. Go search up on how to oc you can lower the voltage vs clock speed to make it run cooler.

It depend on the game? most game are more GPU depending then CPU depending now a days. so you shouldnt see much of a different unless you are doing more than one thing with your pc. for example. if you have 2 or 3 monitor setup. one playing a movie, 2nd playing game and 3rd on firefox searching for games stuff all at the same time. yes the Ryzen will help. but if game is the only thing you want. just go for a better gpu? vega? or the 980? 1080? 1070?1060? all about your budget.
