High GPU usage while using basic or no programs

Hey guys,

as stated in the title i have a problem with my GPU.
I realised a couple days ago that vram usage memory clock and gpu clock are often super
high, this occurs pretty often.
GPU usage in general seems to be higher.

I use a ASUS GTX 970 STRIX (not overclocked)
an i7 6700k and 32 gb of ram,
also I use a 27" 4k monitor as my main monitor and a 24" 16:10 Dell as my second monitor.

I reinstalled the nvidia drivers,
tried using older or newer drivers, and even reset my pc completely because I thought it
maybe was a bitcoin virus.

I still can't figure out what causes the high gpu usage.

Hmm.. When did you buy this graphics card and has the problem been here before, or has it just recently started?

I would recommend finding another computer that you can test the graphics card in and check if it still gives you the high usage while not doing anything.

Do the fans speed up / is the usage high enough to make the fans spin faster?

It might just be that your GPU is reporting those values incorrectly, or something to that effect

Is it just high clock speeds or are you actually seeing high load?

If so do a malwarebytes scan.

already ran a malwarebytes scan, found 1 trojan..
after that i resetted windows 10 completely but the high GPU usage was still there

vram usage is at a constant 20-30 %
also found out it's only at 10% when only using my second monitor

maybe the usage is normal and I'm paranoid but fans are definitly louder than usual
and sometimes get loud while painting in photoshop, which never happened before.

with GPU load you mean the amount of mb/gb used right? sorry I'm a bit of a noob..

Look at GPU usage %, thats showing the actual utilization.
