Hello everyone,

First time poster here although I've perused these forums for years. I recently built my first computer and everything has been good for the most part, but I've hit a snag with what I think is either an SSD or BIOS issue.

The parts are Asus Z270i Strix motherboard, GTX 1070 Gigabyte G1, i5-7600k, 16 GB Corsair DDR4-3200 Ram, EVGA G2 650 PSU, and a 500 GB Samsung 960 Evo M.2 drive (installed directly on the Motherboard via PCIE).

When I installed all of the parts and booted up the computer for the first time I got into the BIOS no problem, however the Samsung M.2 SSD wasn't showing up in either the advanced tab or the boot order. I did some trouble shooting, enabled CSM, etc. and I got the SSD to show up in the boot order and installed Windows 10 via a USB. The computer then booted up normally and I installed the general suspects ... Blizzard, Steam, etc. I actually played some WoW and Civ and everything was working fine--temps were cool, etc. I turned off the computer and turned it on the next day and everything continued working perfectly, however, I then moved the actual PC (unplugged it from the wall outlet) and moved it to a different room and when I tried to turn it on nothing would display on screen (even though the computer was running/on--fans, lights, etc.).

I held the power button and forced it to shut down, I then went into the BIOS and all that would show up in the boot order was "Windows Manager Samsung 960." I messed around with CSM again and got the actual Samsung 960 EVO to show up and left it as #2 on the boot priority. Once again the computer worked fine and booted into windows, but I was confused as to why it had "turned on" with no display signal in the first place, so I unplugged it from the wall and checked to see if it would do the same thing--it did (computer would turn on but no display signal).

I then forced a shut down a second time and went into the BIOS and checked the boot priority, the Samsung 960 EVO was not available and the only available options was "Windows Manager Samsung 960." I left it as is and the computer booted up normally, would run applications, etc.

While the computer is currently working, I'm worried I may have done something wrong with the installation of Windows 10 or maybe have my settings incorrect in the BIOS?

The BIOS settings for the SSD are AHCI, Sata enabled, CSM auto, etc. My concern is that whenever I unplug and re-plug the PC into a wall outlet, it fails to send a display signal. Personally, I think the issue may be that when I unplug it the PC seems to "forget" the Windows Boot Manager 960 EVO and since the actual 960 EVO doesn't show up on the boot priority list it fails to boot (and thus there is no display signal being sent even though the computer is "on").

Does anyone have an idea of what may be wrong with computer? Maybe I installed Windows 10 incorrectly? Maybe the settings in the BIOS are incorrect? Maybe it's a GFX card issue? (The card powers on and has the latest drivers)

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Turn of SATA, it's an NVME drive, not a SATA drive. (or leave it on if you have Sata devices)
And try Disabling CSM.
And under boot Device control, choose UEFI only.
and under storage devices choose UEFI first.
