I have an old processor that I would like to swap out with a better processor. I have never flashed my Bios before and I am afraid that I may brick my motherboard. here are my current specs. Mind you this is an old Frankenstein that I put together from spare parts after my last rig went
boom,

Mainboard: MSI 760GM-P23(FX) (MS-7641)
CPU: AMD Athlon II x4 645
GPU: GTX 960 2gb
RAM: DDR3 8GB Kingston HyperX
OS: Windows 10 Pro

I wish to swap my CPU with:
AMD FX 6300 Vishera 6 core

would a Bios Update allow my computer to utilize this processor? If so how do I do that with Windows 10?

I really appreciate your quick response, yes I did see the comparability chart, but when I put the chip in my board, my computer screen spazzed out and refused to boot up my OS, it kept restarting continuously and that led me to believe I needed a Bios update.

I Reset the CMOS and Updated the Bios, still having some issues.
It will reset shortly after I enter my username and password or it will directly reset before I even get a chance to enter my information. I am wondering if it is a registry issue with my new Processor Perhaps? Ill try running CCleaner to see if that helps. Will Refreshing my windows installation help at all?

Update: Seems that anytime I open a program now it goes to a black screen I have decided to refresh Windows in hopes that it will alleviate the problem.

I tried a fresh install of Windows, Formatted my hard drive and everything. 3mins into my desktop bootup the screen goes black. I am lost, I have never had this issue before and I have no idea what to do.
