Na it differace of a 1060 video card to a 1060 in a laptop. They are the same chip but laptop version runs slower due to heat. My point is the heat effects the 1050's far less and the performance between the 2 is much smaller on laptops. Maybe not worth the extra cost due to the heat issue. The 1050ti is the better choice bang for the buck.

Ok and another question. Do you think I should go for gtx 1050, gtx 1050 ti or gtx 1060. Ofcourse they all cost more than the first one but is it worth it? Should I wait or buy?

How many year do you think I can play games on either of those laptops? Should I go for a better cpu and gpu?

My experience has been that the GPU and VRAM become a limiting factor before the CPU or RAM does. I recommend getting a quad core CPU. Intel CPU's have a "HQ" after the model number indicating it's a quad. Then get the most powerful GPU you can afford.

For me it was a i5 6300HQ + 1060 3gb:

and I added a SSD to it.

Of course this is only if you are planning to have the laptop for 2 or more years, I had my last one for 8 years and now my nephew uses it. If you are planning to replace it in a year or so, just get one that fits your needs now.

This generation of GPU's is different, They are all desktop class this time around. The biggest difference is that the 1060 3gb is the same chip as the 1060 6gb, just less VRAM, unlike the desktop parts where the 3gb is a cut down chip.

Having a more powerful GPU just helps longevity as it will start at a higher performance point and take longer to slide into obsolescence.

What would your advice be to me? Get the 1050 gtx or pay more and get 1050ti or 1060?

How long do you plan to have the laptop?

Assuming this is for gaming and you will have it 2 or more years, I suggest getting the most powerful GPU you can afford. If you can afford the 1060, then it's a good idea.

If you plan to have a year or 2 before upgrading, just get the 1050 and it will likely suit what you need for now.

The dissapation is the big issue on the laptop. Heat holds back the 1060 more than it does the 1050's.

the 1050 got 2gb vram while the 1050ti got 4gb vram. Does that make any difference?
