Best budget graphics card for my PC

Solution

you are going to need to get a good power supply before you do anything if you want anything better than a 1050 ti
The 1050ti, like the 750ti before it, is good if you have limited power or no PCI-e power leads from your PSU. However it's performance is well behind that of the RX 470 and GTX 1060 3GB, so as long as you have the required 6 or 8 pin PCI-e power lead, get one of these better cards.

When you say PCI-e you mean this cable? http://i58.tinypic.com/vonzpv.jpg

Yes those are the type of cable you'll need for any card that requires a 6 pin(on the left) or a 6+2 pin(on the right). That's the one big selling point of a 1050 Ti, it's the fastest card you can get that doesn't require one of those cables.

You have an older i5. If you plan to build a new system not too far in the future, buying a card of the 570/1060 range makes sense. If you are keeping this system for a while, then I think something like a GTX 1050 plus 4gb more ram plus upgrade to an SSD makes more sense. The card and CPU will be better balanced, the extra memory and SSD will make the computer more responsive.

The kinds of games that can use a 1060 or similar aren't going to run well with only 4gb system ram.

Thank you very much. Also I think that the AMD RX 480 is a good choice but its performance is similar to the GTX 1060. Actually the differences depends on the game you will play. Yes, I think an 8GB RAM would help.
