A system with a GTX 780 needs a ~550w power supply. A HIGH quality 450-500w power supply with full DC to DC regulation and most or all of it's rated power available on the 12v rail would work. The CX 430 is group regulated and as said above only supplies a best case 384w ( and only the newest model CX 430 provides that ) on the 12v rail. I wouldn't do it. It would probably just shut down without damaging anything. Probably. Do you want to risk killing your whole system?

I had one of those power supplies, you don't want to use it that way. That's a low end, basic power supply meant for the kind of videocard that requires one connector. Best case, you're getting 384W out of the 12V. You need 250W just for the videocard. Then you need more for the CPU. You'd be running that power supply at max load. It will die a quick death.

I have a i5 6400 which runs 40-60% load on the games I play, surely that's within the power limits of the PSU. I just want to test it for a week for about 2 hours a day.
